   ‘So, reporterman, what’s your story?’ is addressed to a newspaper reporter in The Island, by Peter Benchley. This form shows an alternative way of creating a professional vocative, other than using ‘Mr Reporter’. ‘Sailorman’, ‘soldierman’, etc., also occur.
